Toki is the only sister of Gentatsu, who was killed when Toki was aged four. Since then Gentatsu's friend, Shigure has cared for her. She loves Shigure as if he were a brother and when she finds out he is planning a suicide mission she runs to Kenshin for help. Toki is able to cook well and both Sano and Yahiko consider her pretty which Yahiko likes to rub in often. Tokimet the Kenshin gumi when she was being harassed by some sailors and they saved her.
