Melfina is the key to the Galactic Leyline and Gene Starwind's heart. She is a bio-android who eats, sleeps, thinks, and feels like a normal human. She constantly wonders about her origin, asking for help. The Outlaw Star, the ship, is navigated and mostly controlled by her when she is in a tank-like structure that makes it so she is integrated with the computer system.
